Critical Evaluation: Music Magazine Front Cover First Draft

Critical Evaluation: Music Magazine Front Cover First Draft

As I look at my front cover in its physical form, I believe it sends across the message I originally intended and it fits the expected conventions.

Layout and Text
It is a clean design and layout. The masthead is strong and stands out. I like the font for the main coverlines and masthead but I should consider other fonts to make the cover more visually appealing. The black text doesn’t stand out on its own. The flush left cover lines are in a good position. I love the skyline. I might change the colour of the text to white. I would like to develop my red boxes further as they look far too basic at the moment.

Image
The image has come out a brownish and white colour instead of black and white. The red lips I am happy with. The images looks a little blurry too so I need to improve its quality. Her eye connection and look work well for the ‘strong independent woman’ feel that I wanted.

Puff and Buzzword
The puff and buzzword need to become bolder and maybe the text’s position should be adjusted. I am happy with the barcode and issue number. The red contrasts well on the white.

Contents: Artist Photo Manipulation

These are for my Contents page story 'On Tour with Brody'.

My house style is black and white with pops of red. I might use all or only one of these images for my contents page.

I took the photos casually to represent the story where I follow the artist on tour. In this situation, you wouldn't be able to set up a professional photo shoot so I made my images look edgy but relaxed.

I didn't want a clean cut image that was perfectly clear. I took the pictures in light that gave me this faded effect. I then went on to add red tint onto her lips, can and necklace for the colour pop.
