I put up my front cover on my computer screen along with four questions for the class to answer. We all answered each other's questions in a rotation-like sequence.
1. Does this look like a professional magazine cover?
1. Does this look like a professional magazine cover?
- Yep, the coverlines and neat feel make it look professional!
- Yes, it does look and feel like a professional magazine frontcover.
- Yes
- Yes, I love the colouring and the idea of a women’s music magazine is fantastic as many are targeted at men.
- Yes, I love how unique and almost vintage the style is
- Yes I love the use of colour and how elegant it is.
Overall: I got a positive response for this question. They particularly liked the colouring and the concept of the magazine.
2. Does the B&W with colour
pop on the model’s photo work?
- It does but needs a little tidying, perhaps zoom and do some fine tuning.
- Maybe change it to bold to make it stand out a bit more.
- Some finishing touches are required but is mostly good
- Surprisingly yes, I’m usually very opposed to colour splashing, but it works very well with the whole page.
- Yes I love it, it works well
- Definitely, it works so well with the rest of the cover due to the colours and brightness it says elegant but almost outspoken thus going against the stereotypes of women.
Overall: The majority of people liked it but felt it needed some fine tuning.
3. Do the colours work well
together?
- They look fantastic.
- Yes, the colours blend and work well together.
- Yes, they are very cool. I would say maybe change the tone of the red for sweetheart because the ‘heart’ stands out more due to the change in backgrounds.
- Perhaps use red or yellow not red and yellow
- YES I really like it!
- Yes they’re good
- I love the single use of red, it draws the attention in.
Overall: The colours work!
4. Are the fonts appropriate
and contrasting?
- The only one that feels off is “Rebecca”it looks a little out of place
- The font for Rebecca should be in a different colour since it’s the main cover line of the magazine.
- I agree with the others.
- ditto
- I think they all work very well
- ‘rebecca’ woks well because it draws attention to it and shows clearly who Rebecca is.
- I think ‘Rebecca’ should also be a different colour to convey that this is the main article and is separate from the others, maybe different fonts might work.
Overall: They all agreed that the 'Rebecca' needed to change so I will work on this.
